Let's talk about something a little more fun.
Let’s delve into how to spice up those internal communications! You know, the ones that usually end up buried in the email graveyard. Believe me, there’s a better way: gamification.
Instead of sending out the usual "blah blah" communications about the latest companywide thing, try turning it into an exciting adventure. Gamification can add a sprinkle of magic to your communications, making them fun, engaging and, more importantly, dare I say...memorable! Here are a few things to consider:
Engagement Boost: Gamification hooks people in like a popular Netflix series. With interactive quizzes, challenges and rewards, you'll have your team eagerly waiting for the next update.
Retention Reinforcement: Ever read an email and immediately forgot what it said? We've all been there! But with gamified communications, key messages tend to stick. Whether it's through memory-boosting games or storyline quests, your team will remember those important updates and details long after the game ends.
Learning Made Fun: With gamification, you can turn training sessions into exciting missions. From onboarding new hires to teaching company policies, gamified learning makes it an adventure everyone wants to embark on.
Team Bonding Bonanza: What better way to bring your team together than through friendly competition? With leaderboards, challenges and collaborative quests, gamified communications foster a strong sense of camaraderie.
At one of my previous employers, I produced an eight-month campaign to introduce the company’s new long-term strategy. We took 1000+ employees and randomly divided them into 25 groups of superheroes that faced 12 challenges (focused on strategic needs of the company) and battled super villains across the four new strategic pillars. After each challenge, we published the results in a comic book-like format.
It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. Employees were engaged and excited. They learned about the strategy, where they fit into the bigger picture and had the opportunity to provide ideas and share thoughts that would make the company stronger. In the end, the campaign promoted cross-department collaboration, innovation and common camaraderie. Most importantly, the executive team was thrilled with the participation and the quality of ideas that helped fuel the strategy forward.
So, what are you waiting for? It's time to level up your internal communications game with gamification!
Trust me, your team will thank you for making work feel more like play.
